Southeastern Louisiana University gives each nursing track with clinical hours a guide here. The master's side runs FNP, PMHNP and Nursing Education; the certificates add FNP or PMHNP to an earlier master's; the doctorate comes as BSN to DNP in three concentrations or a post-master's DNP; RN to BSN and the BSN round it out. Two NP tracks, three clinical courses each

Southeastern trains nurse practitioners for two populations, families across the lifespan and psychiatric mental health, and students reach either one by the MSN, a certificate after an earlier master's, or the BSN to DNP. FNP students move through NURS 6820, NURS 6830 and NURS 6840, from pediatrics and women's health to adults and older adults. PMHNP students observe in NURS 6900, then complete NURS 6910 to NURS 6930. DNP students add a residency tied to their project.

Which Southeastern programs need a preceptor?

The MSN FNP and PMHNP, both post-master's certificates, the clinical courses and residency in the DNP, and the Nursing Education practicums. BSN students train in clinical settings Southeastern arranges.

Does Southeastern offer an adult-gerontology NP track?

No. Southeastern's NP education covers two populations only, family (FNP) and psychiatric mental health (PMHNP), each available as an MSN, a certificate or a BSN to DNP concentration.

Are Southeastern's graduate nursing programs online?

Most coursework is online. DNP students come to the Hammond campus for orientation and the defense of their DNP project, and clinical hours happen with preceptors in Louisiana.

When do Southeastern's graduate nursing programs start?

The MSN concentrations start in spring, summer or fall and the certificates in spring or fall. The BSN to DNP tracks admit in more than one term per the catalog, while the post-master's DNP starts in fall only.
