What to put in your request
Four details let your placement advisor start work from the very first reply.
- Your track: MSN FNP, MSN PMHNP, MSN Nursing Education, a post-master's certificate or a DNP concentration.
- Your next NURS course and its semester, for example

- Your start date: months away, next semester, or a course already under way.
The form's Program, Clinical start and City fields cover most of this. Use the message box for the course number, your parish and anything else that shapes the search: a practice you have already approached, the organization you work for, what the clinical tracking system showed for a facility you had in mind, or, for DNP students, the residency course and the population your project needs.
Why each detail matters
Each detail steers a different part of the search. The course number tells us the population: children and child-bearing women for Family Health I, adults and then older adults for the next two FNP courses, and the changing age emphasis of the psychiatric courses. Your track tells us which Louisiana rules and license questions apply, including the DNP's mixed license wording.
Your parish and radius set the map, since every MSN and PMHNP certificate hour stays in Louisiana. Your start date sets the pace, because a new facility agreement can take weeks to months, and a request made a semester ahead leaves room for approval, site onboarding and a backup. If your course has already started
Lead your message with that fact, then list the hours you have logged, the hours still needed and the semester's last class day. If a preceptor has just left, tell your course faculty member at once as well, because any replacement needs the same approval before new hours count. Timing is tight for a reason: under Southeastern's catalog, an Incomplete not cleared by the end of the next semester, summers included, turns into an F unless your academic dean extends it.

How soon will a placement advisor reply?
Promptly, and by the route you prefer: email, a call or a text. The first reply confirms your course, semester and location and asks anything the search depends on, so having your next NURS course number ready keeps that conversation short. If your course has already started, open your message with that.
Do I need anything from Southeastern before I contact you?
Nothing formal. Your track, the next NURS course and when it begins, and your city and parish are enough for a first request. It helps to know what the clinical tracking system shows for any facility you are considering, and whether course faculty have given you a date for naming a preceptor, but neither is required.
Can I ask for help with more than one course?
Yes. List every course you want covered, for example all three Family Health courses or the rest of your psychiatric sequence, with the semester for each. Planning them together lets the search for the next course begin while you finish the current one, and your quote lists each course it includes.
I'm a DNP student. What should my request include?
Name your concentration, the residency course ahead (NURS 8210, NURS 8220 or NURS 8230), the population or setting your DNP project needs, and any facility you already have in mind. Should I wait until my first clinical semester to get in touch?
Early is the best time. Writing during your first or second semester, before any clinical course, lets your placement advisor map each search to your plan's semesters so facility agreements and approvals have room to clear before each course opens. Have your catalog plan or advising sheet handy when you write.
